It’s been a little quiet and sporadic around One Hoolie Mama land, so I thought I’d take a few minutes and do a Life Lately post to catch you all up.
Our biggest news of 2016 (to-date) is that #babyD3 will be joining us this fall. I’m almost 15 weeks along and #babyD3 is due on 9/16/16. We will get gender confirmation at our ultrasound in the next 4-5 weeks and then baby prep will start in full swing! I am so lucky to have easy pregnancies and deliveries, but I’d be lying if I said that the exhaustion of the first trimester wasn’t pretty rough this time around.
With the arrival of #babyD3, I will be transitioning out of full-time work outside the home to the world of stay-at-home/work-from-home mom. This is an exciting transition, but I am a little nervous – it’s another big change.
Earlier this month, we traveled down to Virginia Beach for our annual Shamrock Weekend. This was my 6th year participating and the big family group’s 5th year. As usual, it was a fun weekend, and we were excited to have out-of-state family join us for the event. The actual 8k on Saturday was pretty miserable for the boys, thanks to the cold and a 20+ mph wind, but once we got into the tent for the after-party, they had a grand old time. I think the key for next year may be to bring a babysitter along and let mom and dad enjoy the event sans hooligans.
Though there’s been some radio silence on the blog, I have been reading a lot more this year and enjoying it tremendously. I’ve read mostly fiction thus far, though I am also reading Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs and have a few other non-fiction books in the queue.
We haven’t made any progress on #babyD’s potty training, but he did move into a toddler bed a few weeks ago. #babyD2, after going for months with just his four front teeth, has cut five more in the past three weeks. #babyD’s vocabulary has exploded in the past few months, and #babyD2 has learned how to climb (on. everything.).
Keep this girl in your thoughts, please. She came down with a severe case of pancreatitis in December, and with the tests that were being run for that, we discovered that she has a cancerous tumor in her liver. She’s had her ups and downs in the past couple of months and right now we’re in a down and I’m worried about her. We adopted her from our local humane society just a few weeks before we got married, so she has been a true member of our family for more than a decade.
As the weather is getting nicer and nicer, I am really looking forward to getting back into running. My challenge is figuring out the best time of day during the week to get a run in. I’ll keep you updated as I work through that. To motivate me, I am considering signing up for our local summer race series. Most of the races are just 5ks, but there is a half marathon at the end of the summer, which I would like to run at least once.
So that’s our life lately. What’s been going on in your neck of the woods? Have you been reading anything interesting? Are you getting to enjoy some Spring weather? Let me know! I can’t wait to hear from you.
